Abstract
Abstract: This study aims to describe the increase in motivation and understanding of learning in theme 5
Ecosystems through a guided inquiry approach. This research uses a type of classroom action
research (CAR) with the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. This research
was conducted in two cycles. The type of data collected in this study is in the form of main data and
supporting data. In this study, data were collected through tests, observations and documentation.
Data analysis used is qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of the study show that the
application of the guided inquiry approach can increase learning motivation. Student motivation
increased rapidly from pre-cycle 4 students or 31%, Cycle I 6 students or 45% and Cycle II 12
students or 92%. The application of natural media around can increase understanding of the
material on theme 5 "Ecosystem". The results showed that there was an increase in learning
comprehension by 4 students or 31% in the pre-cycle, 9 students or 69% in cycle I and 12 students
or 92% in cycle II. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Guided Inquiry
Approach can increase learning motivation and understanding in Theme 5 Ecosystems.
