PENERAPAN STRATEGI PWIM UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS DESKRIPTIF BAHASA INGGRIS BERBASIS LITERASI BUDAYA DAN KEWARGAAN

The purpose of this classroom action research is to improve the descriptive text writing skills of students in grade IXF Semester 1 of SMP Negeri 1 Margomulyo for the 2019/2020 academic year, based on Cultural and Citizenship Literacy, especially in terms of describing certain objects, people or places through the implementation of the strategy. PWIM (Picture Word Inductive Model) through activities based on Cultural Literacy and Citizenship in the Masyarakat Adat Samin. Data analysis performed is triangulation mode. The research was conducted in 2 cycles. Cycle 1, students in groups (1 group of 5 people) describe certain objects, people and places without using the PWIM strategy. In Cycle 2, students describe things related to the Masyarakat Adat Samin, be it culture, traditions and local wisdom. This activity is carried out in groups, by reporting the results of the task in the form of descriptive text to the teacher through writing/print out/on social media and then presenting it. The learning outcomes of students in cycle 1 averaged 69.63% with learning mastery of 62.5%, in cycle 2 an average of 78.13 with learning completeness of 87.5%. So, it can be concluded that learning activities by applying the PWIM strategy based on Cultural and Citizenship Literacy can improve the skills of writing descriptive texts for class IXF Semester 1 students of SMPN 1 Margomulyo, Bojonegoro for the 2019/2020 academic year.
