The Relationship Between Therapeutic Communication and Caring Behavior in Nursing Professional Students

The importance of therapeutic communication in nursing practice is the main focus in this research, because it influences the caring behavior of nursing professional students. This research aims to analyze the relationship between therapeutic communication and caring behavior in nursing profession students at RSI Sultan Agung Semarang.
The method used is quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach, involving 139 respondents who were randomly selected using a simple random sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test.
The results showed that the majority of respondents had a high level of therapeutic communication, while caring behavior was also relatively good. The statistical test produces a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), which indicates a significant relationship between therapeutic communication and caring behavior. The correlation coefficient of 0.316 indicates that the relationship between these two variables is quite strong and positive, meaning that the better the therapeutic communication, the better the caring behavior shown by students.
This research concludes that improving therapeutic communication skills can contribute to the development of caring behavior among nursing profession students.
